Motorola Mobility has confirmed the Android Ice Cream Sandwich upgradeto the Xoom Wi-Fi tablet will arrive over-the-air via Wi-Fi to U.S.-based owners on Wednesday.
In addition to faster browser rendering, the free update lets users type via voice and includes a Data Manager tool for monitoring and controlling network data usage, something seen as especially helpful to reviewers of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus smartphone running Ice Cream Sandwich, also called Android 4.0.
Motorola called it the first tablet of its kind to receive the upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich, though the update for the Asus Transformer Prime tablet was distributed a week ago, as several bloggers, including Slashgear noticed.
Bloggers and XDA-Developers theorized that the Asus tablet is more of an Ice Cream Sandwich reference platform, while Xoom is seen as a Honeycomb reference tablet for developers. The XDA-Developers' site went dark on Wednesday, joining other sites in opposition to the federal Stop Online Privacy Act (SOPA) legislation.
Both tablets had been running Android Honeycomb, also known as Android 3.0
The Xoom update is officially called IML77.
Motorola posted a list of new features, including a new typeface called Roboto.

The Royal Rumble has been one of WWE?s most unusual and unpredictable events. From what I would call the ?best seat in the house,? I?ve witnessed - and on many occasions introduced - a number of defining occurrences through the years. Therefore, as we celebrate the 25th edition of this long-running WWE staple on Jan. 29, WWE.com revisits some of the magical moments that took place over the past 24 Royal Rumbles - some from the Royal Rumble Matches themselves, others?from clashes that took place in?the titularly named pay-per-view?event.
?
AUSTIN "2:16"?
1/18/98 - San Jose, Calif.
Do you know the way to San Jose? ?Stone Cold? Steve Austin did! Continuing to ride the crest of a wave of surging popularity, Austin eliminated The Rock to win his second consecutive Royal Rumble Match and punch his ticket for an opportunity at the WWE Championship at WrestleMania XIV.
NO PEOPLE'S EYEBROW IN "QUIT"
1/24/99 - Anaheim, Calif.
"I Quit!" A term that no competitor in WWE would ever want to utter while competing in the field of battle. However, those two words were seemingly uttered three times by Mankind, as he was dethroned as WWE Champion by The Rock in their ?I Quit? Match. In the process, The Brahma Bull became a two-time WWE Champion.
?
JERICHO WINS 3-FOR-BRAWL
1/23/00 - New York, N.Y.
Madison Square Garden was the setting for the first of Chris Jericho?s victories to become an undisputed champion. In a Triple Threat Match, Y2J and Chyna, co-holders of the Intercontinental Championship, along with Hardcore Holly, battled it out tooth-and-nail, with the brash, cocky Jericho coming out on top.
?
11 ELIMINATIONS FOR KANE
1/21/01 - New Orleans, La.
One of the greatest feats ever in the history of the Royal Rumble Match took place in New Orleans, when an upstart Kane entered the match at No. 6 and eliminated 11 Superstars during the course of his time in the ring. It?s a record that stands to this day!
?
?
THE HUNGER GAME
1/20/02 - Atlanta, Ga.
Making his in-ring return after recovering from a debilitating quadriceps injury, a determined Triple H was more than ready to play the game in the Royal Rumble Match. Despite skeptics and naysayers' predictions, The King of Kings emerged victorious in the longest 30-Man Royal Rumble Match in WWE history.

Regular viewers of "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" (Sun., 9 p.m. EST on Bravo) know all about the simmering feud between former BFFs NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak.
However, so far this season the pair haven't indulged in so much mutual trash-talking, and NeNe even recently admitted on "The Talk" that all the drama really takes its toll on her.
So, over dinner Mama Joyce wonders if the relationship between the two former BFFs could be repaired.
"No," NeNe says flatly. "Sometimes ... people can go too far."
As the other "Housewives" fidget uncomfortably, NeNe sums up the ex-friendship: "It's sort of like one of those things where it is what it is, and that's just what it is."
Kim spells it out even more firmly: "We're divorced. That's it."
Catch all the continuing Season 4 drama on "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" every Sunday night at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo.

Edson Barboza was cruising towards a solid victory, but that wasn't enough. The Brazilian decided to try a spectacular spinning heel kick (some called it a wheel kick) and Terry Etim's face was the unfortunate recipient.
Etim went down in a heap, his right arm stuck in the air. The Brazilian scored the third-round finish at the 2:02 mark to record his fourth victory in the UFC in the opener of the pay-per-view portion of UFC 142 in Rio de Janeiro.
What a way to kick off the PPV show at HSBC in Barboza's homeland. The fight was actually starting to get a little stale. Barboza used his low kicks to settle into a good scoring groove, but he didn't look like he was going to try for the kill.
The kick was perfectly executed and Etim never saw it coming. UFC analyst Joe Rogan said it was the first spinning heel kick knockout in the history of the UFC.
"When you fight in Brazil, it's unlike fighting in any other place in the world. In a fight, you try things and hope they work. Tonight, it (the kick) worked. It's something I've practiced a lot and I finally was able to land it hard," Barboza said.
Barboza (10-0) is a perfect 4-0 in the UFC while Etim (15-4, 6-4 UFC) has lost 2-of-3.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. ? The Golden Globes have equally good comedy and drama masks this year.
Alongside heavyweight dramas, the category for best musical or comedy at the Globes usually is more of a lark, with nominees rarely emerging with best-picture prospects for Hollywood's top prize, the Academy Awards.
Yet Sunday's musical or comedy contenders make up a strong bunch that could give their best-drama cousins at the Globes a run for their money come Oscar time.
Leading the Globes, to be carried live on NBC from 8-11 p.m. EST from the Beverly Hilton Hotel, is the silent film "The Artist," with six nominations. Among them are best musical or comedy, directing and writing honors for Michel Havanavicius, and acting slots for Jean Dujardin and Berenice Bejo.
Tied for second with five nominations each are the Deep South tale "The Help" and George Clooney's Hawaiian family story "The Descendants," both of them among best-drama contenders.
With the Oscars choosing up to 10 best-picture contenders when nominations come out Jan. 24, "The Artist" could have some other lighter fare as company there. Globe musical or comedy nominees "Midnight in Paris" and "Bridesmaids" have solid Oscar nomination prospects, along with the weighty dramas academy voters historically prefer.
Most years, the musical or comedy category is filled with nominees that have little or no chance at the Oscars, such as last year's Globe nominees "The Tourist" and "Burlesque." The last time a musical or comedy Globe winner earned the best-picture Oscar was nine years ago, when "Chicago" triumphed at both shows.
This time, the dual categories at the Globes could create an Oscar showdown between the dramatic and musical-comedy winners.
Along with "The Artist," Kristen Wiig's wedding romp "Bridesmaids" and Woody Allen's romantic fantasy "Midnight in Paris," Globe nominees for best musical or comedy are Joseph Gordon-Levitt's cancer tale "50/50" and Michelle Williams' Marilyn Monroe story "My Week with Marilyn."
Besides "The Descendants" and "The Help," best-drama contenders are Martin Scorsese's Paris adventure "Hugo," Clooney's political thriller "The Ides of March," Brad Pitt's sports tale "Moneyball" and Steven Spielberg's World War I epic "War Horse."
Presented by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, a group of 89 entertainment reporters for overseas outlets, the Globes used to have a strong record predicting the films that would go on to win best-picture at the Oscars. But lately, a best-picture win at the Globes has not translated into victory on Oscar night.
Over the last seven years, only one Globe best-picture winner ? 2008's "Slumdog Millionaire" ? has gone on to claim the top Oscar trophy. Before that stretch, the Globes had been on an eight-year streak in which one of its two best-picture recipients also won the main prize at the Academy Awards.
Last year, "The Social Network" won best-drama at the Globes and looked like the early Oscar favorite. But momentum later swung to eventual Oscar best-picture winner "The King's Speech." The year before, "Avatar" was named best drama at the Globes, while "The Hurt Locker" took best picture at the Oscars.
The Globes have a better track record predicting who will win Oscars for acting. A year ago, all four actors who won Oscars earned Globes first ? lead players Colin Firth for "The King's Speech" and Natalie Portman for "Black Swan" and "The Fighter" supporting stars Christian Bale and Melissa Leo.
This time, "The Help" leads the acting categories with three nominations, for Viola Davis, Octavia Spencer and Jessica Chastain. Along with Clooney, Pitt and Williams, other nominees include Meryl Streep for the Margaret Thatcher story "The Iron Lady," Leonardo DiCaprio for the J. Edgar Hoover biography "J. Edgar," Christopher Plummer for the father-son tale "Beginners" and Glenn Close and Janet McTeer for the Irish drama "Albert Nobbs."
Ryan Gosling has two nominations, as dramatic actor for "The Ides of March" and actor in a musical or comedy for the romance "Crazy, Stupid, Love."
Morgan Freeman will receive the Globes' Cecil B. DeMille award for lifetime achievement.
Ricky Gervais, who ruffled feathers with sharp wisecracks aimed at celebrities as well as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, returns as host of the Globes for the third-straight time.
If the caustic comedian decides to again bite the hand that feeds him, a case working its way through federal court might provide some material: the HFPA is fighting for the right to dump longtime Globes broadcaster NBC if it can get a better deal with another network.

IRISH economic growth in 2012 could be hampered by increasing oil prices ? fuelled by US growth and growing tensions in the Middle East ? made worse by a weakening euro.
The latest Bord G?is Energy Index shows that while a decrease in gas and electricity prices caused the index to fall 1% for the month of December, the index now stands at 143 ? 5% higher than in December 2010.
Bord G?is energy trader John Heffernan said Irish energy consumers face a triple threat of price increases in 2012, as demand for oil could increase from a US economy firmly back in growth mode and threats to supply from the Middle East, compounded by a weakening euro.
Oil is sold in US dollars and a weak euro pushes up energy costs. Oil prices hit a 150-year high in 2011, according to Mr Heffernan.
Economists are already downgrading Ireland?s growth prospects for 2012. Irish gross domestic product will rise by 1% in 2012, according to the median estimate of 11 economists surveyed by Bloomberg. This is well below Finance Minister Michael Noonan?s forecast of 1.3% expansion in 2012, on which budget calculations are based.
Any rise in energy costs will hurt Irish consumers and manufactures, eroding Irish growth prospects in 2012.
Commenting on the Bord G?is Energy Index for December, Mr Heffernan said: "The index recorded a 1% drop for December; however the impact of the decrease in fuel commodity prices was offset as the euro weakened over the month. This meant that in euro terms, oil and coal prices increased over the month."
Mr Heffernan said the ongoing European sovereign debt crisis, fears about global economic growth in 2012 and a mild start to the winter across Ireland, Britain and Europe, all contributed to put downward pressure on gas and electricity prices: "There are a number of strong influences that are putting downward pressure on fuel commodities including: the European debt crisis, fears of a slowing global economy in 2012 and mild weather across Europe.
"Should the euro continue to weaken versus the US dollar, eurozone buyers will not benefit fully from any price falls and would have to pay even more should prices increase."
"The average price of Brent crude oil posted a record high in 2011 as daily oil demand hit a new high of 89 million barrels per day, as growing demand from the emerging market countries continued. Prices were also supported by concerns about supply from the Middle East and North Africa," he said.
Mr Heffernan disclosed that the electricity element of the index was down 4% to 118.
"The average wholesale Irish electricity price for December closed 4% lower than its November equivalent, as unseasonably mild weather and reduced demand for electricity pushed prices downwards. In addition, as the cost of gas and carbon reduced in the month, the cost of producing electricity fell. The availability of hydro and wind power put additional downward pressure on prices," he said.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) ? South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier was careful not to talk too much before Monday's Capital One Bowl about what finishing the season with a school-record 11 wins could do for a program that had waded through a lot of adversity this season.
The early season dismissal of starting quarterback Stephen Garcia, the loss of running back Marcus Lattimore to a season-ending knee injury and an ongoing NCAA probe all took turns as possible distractions for his team.
A 30-13 win over No. 21 Nebraska earned the 10th-ranked Gamecocks the distinction of being the most successful team in school history. Now it's clear the 'Ole Ball Coach has a loftier, new mission in mind going forward.
"We're a happy bunch of guys," Spurrier said. "Like I told the guys, next year's team, they'll try to win 12 because 11 already happened. So we'll have some new goals next year."
Spurrier hopes those plans will include his top receiver Alshon Jeffery, who was named the game MVP on Monday after catching four passes for 148 yards and a touchdown before getting ejected for fighting.
Jeffery, a junior, will have to decide whether the NFL draft or his senior season await him in 2012.
Spurrier said that if his top receiver is projected as a first-round pick, he won't try to talk him out of entering the draft if that's his desire.
"I said it many, many times if we think our guys are first-round picks, they should go," he said. "And if they're not, they can improve their status for another year, we hope they will stay and play. It is up to Alshon and not up to me, and I think he'll do some diligent research and make smart decisions."
Jeffery agreed with the plan Spurrier laid out.
"I feel like coach said, we will sit down and talk about it. And my family will talk about it, but we will try to make the best decision."
The No. 10 Gamecocks (11-2) will have some time to savor Monday's win after snapping a string of three straight bowl losses. Spurrier said they will have rings "with a big 'ole 11 on them" made for the team to commemorate the milestone.
Nebraska (9-4) was just 1 for 3 in the red zone Monday and quarterback Taylor Martinez also had an interception late in the second quarter that set up the Gamecocks' go-ahead touchdown. The Cornhuskers never recovered and were shut out in the final three quarters.
"I'm proud of the season we had," Nebraska coach Bo Pelini said of a year that also included the Cornhuskers moving to the Big Ten. "Obviously we didn't finish the way we wanted. It doesn't take away from where we are, where we're going or what we accomplished."
Connor Shaw, who took over at quarterback when Garcia was kicked off the team in October, came up big, passing for two scores and rushing for another in one of his best games. He finished 11 for 17 for 230 yards and ran for 42 yards.
"We didn't play all that great at times, and Nebraska didn't play all that great either," Spurrier said. "But we made some good stops here and there... We won the fourth quarter today against them and our defense was sensational.
"The record speaks for itself as the best team ever."
Jeffery was having a surprisingly productive day playing just weeks after surgery on his hand he injured in the regular-season finale. He was called for a personal foul penalty and ejected with just over two minutes left in the third quarter along with Cornhuskers cornerback Alfonso Dennard when both were caught throwing punches at each other after a play.
"Getting ejected, that is something that happened in the moment," Jeffery said.
He said winning 11 games became the mission for the Gamecocks all season.
"Coach Spurrier, in the beginning of season ... wrote the goal's try to win 11 games and try do things we did the first time. So that's what we tried to do."
Pelini's team came into the game having been plagued by turnovers in its previous three losses. Pelini pointed to missed opportunities ? which included going 1 for 3 in the red zone ? as the culprit Monday.
"I'll say it straight out: our football team, even after the game, felt we were a better football team than them," Pelini said. "But you've got to get out and earn it. It's a humbling game. You give them credit. They made plays. ... We're a pretty good team, too, but we didn't execute at the times we needed to do it."
Rex Burkhead kept Nebraska in the game with 89 yards rushing, but South Carolina sacked Martinez six times.
"We got in the red zone plenty of times and couldn't finish it," he said. "It's is tough. ... We beat ourselves in a lot of phases of the game."
Spurrier will be entering his eighth season at South Carolina next season and said he has confidence the Gamecocks' best football is ahead of them.
"We're different than maybe years past and to finish in the top 10 and all that kind of stuff. ... Gee, if you got a bunch of guys playing like that, you can win against anybody," he said. "Got a lot of them coming back and we're going to try to have a big year next year."

The NBA season is just over a week old, and there are some big surprises early on.
The Memphis Grizzles were expected to take the next step after their shocking playoff run a year ago. Instead, they are already dealing with multiple injuries and the worst record in the Western Conference. Lob City has yet to take off with the Clippers, and the Lakers look to be in for a very long season.
But there have been plenty of surprises as well. Here are five teams to jump out of the gate hot, but will be falling back into the crowd within the next month.
?
6. Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks were the first team of the year to beat the Miami Heat, and it featured a resurgent Tracy McGrady, who lit Miami up for 16 points on Monday.
Too bad T-Mac hasn?t been an effective player consistently for three years now because of his damaged knees. The 32-year-old is the best player on what is quite possibly the worst bench in the league.
As the season rolls on and fatigue starts to be a huge factor on a nightly basis, the Hawks are going to fade as fast as T-Mac?s career.
?
12. Orlando Magic
This team is a surprise because of the toxic situation they currently have with Dwight Howard. All of his teammates know he wants out, and I thought chemistry was going to be a colossal issue right away.
A 4-2 record out of the gate suggests it?s not, but as the trade questions continue to engulf the locker room, it?s only a matter of time until the team succumbs to the constant rumors and the losses pile up.
?
13. Houston Rockets
The Rockets are off to a surprising 2-2 start that features wins over the Spurs and the Hawks. Problem is, they don?t have enough talent to stay competitive for 20 games, let alone 66.
I?d venture to say this is one of the five worst teams in the entire league.
?
14. Minnesota Timberwolves
The T-Wolves have rode a red-hot Kevin Love to back-to-back wins over the Mavericks and Spurs, but don?t expect them to keep up.
The team will be forced to ride the inconsistencies of rookies Ricky Rubio and Derrick Williams.
?
18. Utah Jazz
The Jazz quietly have won two of their first five games, but you have to remember they were against the 76ers and the Hornets. They have been promptly blown out already by the Lakers, Nuggets and Spurs. The team is far too young to handle the grueling road ahead.
I love the long-term outlook in Utah?but don?t expect much this year. ?

Online sources are reporting that some of the biggest online giants are considering taking down their homepages to highlight the problems with SOPA which could soon become a law in the US market.
Google, Facebook and Amazon are some of the companies that are part of NetCoalition trade association that might take this drastic step.
SOPA has already seen enough opposition on the web but it is not a mainstream issue at the moment because not every online user knows about it.
If Google, Facebook and Amazon decide to blacklist their homepages for a couple of hours with their view on the SOPA, it might change that. And the protests might intensify enough to stop it from becoming a law.
